Biography

Ali Sajwani, Group CIO of Emirates NBD Bank, is a vibrant UAE National who leads a team of 350+ high caliber professionals. His illustrious career spans across 5 years of Oil & Gas experience followed by 12 years of banking. Ali has diligently worked with his business counterparts & peers in producing significant results over the past number of years. Possibly region’s highest OPEX / CAPEX are managed under Ali’s leadership. He was one of the key architects in the EBI-NBD integration that was successfully carried out in 2009, the Emirates Islamic Bank and Dubai Bank integration in 2012, and the recent acquisition of BNP Paribas, Egypt into Emirates NBD which were all carried out successfully.

Over the years, Ali has been successful in embedding a culture of innovation, customer service and excellence in execution, within the IT team. Group IT core values have been conceived and launched under Ali’s leadership and desire to transform the IT organization into a long lasting institution. Group IT core values are Customer-First, Ownership and Trust.

Ali is widely known and well respected for the dynamic change that he has induced in the Emirates NBD Group in a short span of time. Rising customer satisfaction indexes and low staff attrition rates further confirm the positive outcomes that have resulted from his sound leadership and collaborative execution style. By creating optimum balance across People, Process & Technology domains, Ali and team have made significant contributions in enabling the business strategy.

Couple of Major international corporations have appointed Ali be their Advisory Board – Executive Member to support make better-informed decisions, to receive expert advice on emerging technology and gain insight in doing business in the diversified global markets.

Ali states that the Group IT has invested tremendous energy in defining and institutionalizing a culture based on values which has now become the fabric of the Group IT team, and he is proud of the mergers and integrations that the Group has taken on bringing together not only systems but people alike and believes in harmonizing is what we do best!
